Passenger Safety Briefings
ExxonMobil
Client Background
Affiliated ExxonMobil companies have been operating in Angola for more than 15 years and have interests in four deepwater blocks covering more than 3 million gross acres.
Brief
ExxonMobil needed a tailored portfolio of passenger safety briefings for Super Puma and S76 helicopters and a Beechcraft B1900D fixed-wing aircraft for workers operating in the company's Angola sector.
The challenge was to address a range of geographical, logistical and access issues and produce the briefings in Portuguese with English subtitles.
Viscom was selected because of the company's 20-plus years' experience in producing aviation safety briefings and was commissioned in June 2008.
Budget: £40K
Solution
Viscom used fully-rendered animated characters to overcome the challenges of filming on location and to stay on schedule and within budget.
ExxonMobil used Viscom's client portal for real-time access during the project review stage and then after completion. This also allowed the finished briefings to be made available for immediate use.
Outcome
A total of 30 copies were delivered to ExxonMobil in February 2009 of a menu-driven DVD for use both onshore and offshore, with all messages tailored exactly to the Angola workforce's requirements.
