Viscom Salutes Soteria Success

At Viscom, we were delighted to hear that Soteria was selected by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Department for Transport (DfT) as the preferred bidder for the SAR-H contract. This will be a single harmonised Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter service for the UK which will replace the current SAR helicopter service with a bespoke capability.
The Soteria consortium, comprising CHC Helicopters, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Thales UK, and helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky, is now working with the UK government towards finalising the details of the the contract. The 25-year contract will see Soteria provide a single, unified UK helicopter search and rescue (SAR) service, operating from 12 bases spread across the UK to cover over 11,000km of coastline and 3.6 million sq km of sea.
